NVNA and Hospice Rebrands to Croí Health

New Name, Same Nonprofit Mission

You know us as NVNA and Hospice, the first independent nonprofit home health care and hospice agency serving the South Shore of Massachusetts. After more than a century of serving our community, we enter the next chapter of our story as Croí Health. This new name reflects both who we are today and where we are headed. The same award-winning team with the faces you know and care you expect will continue to serve you. Our heart, mission, and caregivers remain the same as an independent, nonprofit organization. The only thing changing is our name.

It all began in 1920 with one nurse, Amy Sylvester, conducting home-based visits in the wake of a global pandemic. This small visiting nurse association has now grown into a leading provider of home health, palliative, and hospice care over 100 years later. We are supported by some of the most dedicated clinicians, donors, and volunteers in the region. Just this century we have celebrated many major moments, from expanding our service area to 27 towns to adding hospice services in 2008, opening the Pat Roche Hospice Home in 2013, and expanding our palliative care program. We are growing at a rapid rate. Croí Health is just the next major milestone.

The name Croí Health (pronounced “CROY”) draws inspiration from the Gaelic word meaning heart. Croí reflects who we are and what drives us. No matter the service, care is truly at the heart of everything we do. From skilled nursing and rehabilitation to palliative and hospice services, our team walks beside each patient and family with unmatched empathy and unwavering support.

“It became clear that as our services evolve, so too must our identity,” said Renee McInnes, CEO. “Our new name represents both our legacy and our future. While our services have grown, our mission has never wavered: providing compassionate, expert care for our community. Croí, meaning ‘heart,’ perfectly captures the spirit of how we serve by leading with heart in every interaction and every home we enter.”

Renee McInnes, CEO of Croí Health

At Croí Health, care, trust, and heart define how we serve:

Care is our calling. As the first independent, nonprofit home health and hospice organization in our region, we have earned a reputation of clinical excellence that is reflected in our consistent five-star ratings in both patient experience and quality of care from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Trust is the foundation of every relationship we build. For generations, our neighbors have counted on us for dignified, reliable, and compassionate care. That trust has shaped our history and will continue to guide our future.

Heart is what sets us apart. It is the compassion that guides our nurses, therapists, and hospice team every day. It is the empathy we bring to every home visit, every conversation, and every family we serve.

Our story continues under a new name, but with the same goal to help every family we serve live with comfort, dignity, and peace of mind, wherever they call home. As Croí Health, we remain an independent, mission-driven nonprofit, dedicated to expanding access to patient-centered care. We are grateful for the South Shore community and their philanthropic generosity, which has allowed us to continue to broaden patient care access for all who need it, as we enter our next chapter.
