Susan and Christine McMackin are a mother and daughter team who have devoted their careers to supporting women along their ongoing journey of health and wellness. They are both family nurse practitioners and the founders of New England Wellness Center in Hingham, a holistic, functional and generative medicine practice that helps women "live a vibrant life full of vitality and health."
In addition to being a family nurse practitioner, Susan is also a psychologist and homeopath who has practiced on the South Shore for more than 40 years. Over the course of her career in traditional medicine, she discovered that the ideal way to help her patients achieve health and wellness would be through functional medicine, which led to the development of New England Wellness Center.
Earlier in her career, Christine graduated from a medical aesthetics program, served as a makeup artist in Hollywood, completed a two-year residency at Georgetown University Hospitalís limb salvage and wound unit, and worked alongside the countryís most skilled plastic surgeons at Austin Weston Medical Center. She became a board-certified family nurse practitioner in 2015. Previously, Christine was the owner and medical director of a successful med spa on the South Shore, but decided she wanted to provide additional healthcare solutions to her clients.
"I wanted to offer my patients true health and beauty," says Christine. "To do that, I knew I would need to help them address the aging process and dysregulation of systems under the skin." She then sold her aesthetics practice and joined her mother at New England Wellness Center. Together, with their combined skills and specialties, the McMackin women are able to present their patients with a tailored treatment plan with pertinent testing and labs, assessment and analysis, and implementation support.
New England Wellness Center offers an array of services, including: medically supervised weight loss, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, endocrine regulation, gut health, allergy testing, neurotransmitter testing and regulation, IV therapy, peptide therapy, testing and treatment for heavy metals, mold and fungus, as well as a full menu of aesthetic services.
Functional medicine, says Susan, "aims to support and optimize health by addressing the underlying causes of disease and promoting overall well-being through a comprehensive and personalized approach."
