Tiffanie Sergi
CEO at D&J Enterprises, Inc. 508-566-5926, dandjenterprise.net
About 13 years ago, Tiffanie Sergi was working full time as a medical assistant while attending nursing school. At the same time, her husband David, who had a full-time job in fire suppression, started a side business providing landscaping services—including design, cleanups and maintenance, irrigation, edging and mulching—to area communities. As the family business quickly grew, Sergi initially offered administrative support, assisting with invoicing and scheduling, as she continued her own job. Eventually, in 2015, she made the decision to quit her job to help sustain D&J Enterprises. Today, she is the CEO of the company.
Based in Wareham, D&J Enterprises now extends its suite of landscaping services to areas throughout the South Shore. “I developed a passion for the landscaping services industry and learning new things,” says Sergi. “I have helped to build a business that is not only creating jobs for the community, but also careers.”
Sergi acknowledges that her ability to thrive in a male-dominated industry has been empowering. This is especially true if her expertise is called into question, or a client asks to speak to “the boss,” only to learn that she is the boss. “I want other women to know they can have the careers they want and that they are enough,” says Sergi, who attributes her success to persistent hard work and treating her team like family. “I may not be on the Fortune 500 list, but what I am is a woman determined to create an establishment for people to have fulfilling careers and feel like they belong. Success, for me, is measured by the success of our employees.”
