Paper Quilling Workshop

Join us at Mayflower Mercantile on
Thursday, October 19th from 6-8pm with instructor Karen Zukas,
proprietor of Peasantware Pottery in New Bedford and the
founder of The New Bedford Art and Cultural Emporium at
Kilburn Mills, to create a paper quilled sunflower greeting
card.
Quilling is a lovely paper art done by curling paper with a
little split ended tool (originally a feather quill) and creating
filigreed designs. A 15th century art of France and Italy used
first by nuns to embellish religious objects, it has had a
resurgence, and well it should as it is a lovely decorative art.
Come and make your first quilled greeting card or frame it in
a delightful shadowbox. The sky is the limit on the wonder
