Gallery/Exhibition info:
This summer the Savage Godfrey Gallery opens its fourth exhibition Summer Daze. Paintings by Jen
Kelly, Jess Hurley Scott, and John Vinton will evoke a sunny summer’s day within the Gallery. Ranging
from abstract to figurative to photorealistic, this exhibition will appeal to everyone who enjoys a day at the
beach. An opening reception will be held at the Gallery on Friday, June 6th from 6-8 pm.
Jen Kelly is dedicated to creating paintings that exude joy, hope, and a sense of peace. Raised in a beach
town, she discovered her passion for painting at a very early age. Days spent by the ocean continue to
inspire her coastal-themed artwork like the gridded beach-goers to be displayed in Summer Daze. Kelly’s
paintings are exhibited in galleries across the Northeast. Her work has been featured in publications such
as Open House Magazine, South Shore Living, and Boston Magazine. Kelly lives and paints in Hingham,
MA.
Jess Hurley Scott is known for her dimensional paintings created from layered, hand-painted acrylic
panels that explore light, illusion, and perception. On display in Summer Daze will be scenes of Scott’s
favorite local beaches, like Peggotty, Egypt, and Minot. Scott exhibits widely across the East Coast and
has twice been awarded a residency at the Pouch Cove Foundation in Newfoundland. She recently
completed a hand-painted light box for Logan Airport, Terminal A, titled “Common Ground, Reflection”
which stands over five feet tall. Jess Hurley Scott lives and paints in Scituate, MA with her family.
John Vinton creates series of paintings that are derived from one inspirational location. He uses
abstraction to capture a sense of place. With bold texture and color, he creates an atmosphere that
evokes the location of the series. Most recently, he has been working on paintings of Duxbury Bay, which
will be on display at the Gallery. It is uncommon for seascapes like Duxbury Bay to be painted in this
abstract, expressionist style which is one of the reasons why Vinton’s work is so beloved. John Vinton
paints in Waltham, MA.
The Sunne Savage Gallery is a multi-generational, woman-owned business that provides
private and corporate art services. Gallery services include art acquisition, appraisal, sales and
