Val Sullivan is the kind of artist who wears her heart on her sleeve–literally. A Plymouth resident who has dabbled in various art forms over the years, she is known for her joyful style and her use of vibrant colors. Sullivan creates art using a range of different mediums, from jewelry and digital art to paintings on clothing. She sells her creations on her website, and in May she will be launching a custom denim collection in collaboration with Ashley Irene Boutique located at Mashpee Commons.
“I have created many exclusive designs, including personalized monograms and fun, trendy icons,” says Sullivan. “I love creating work that surprises the viewer or wearer each time they see it. Much like meditation, I aim to help my audience get lost and forget their worries.”
Sullivan first launched her art business in 2020. As a new mom suffering from postpartum anxiety, art became a much needed outlet to express herself and share beauty with the world. “My work is an attempt to remind myself and others that it is okay to be free and at peace with not always knowing what the future holds. I am inspired by igniting the inner child in all of us.”
Customers who are interested in a custom denim piece, can place an order at Sullivan’s denim collection launch party, scheduled for May 18, or anytime after that day by contacting her through her website. “It truly feels like my purpose in life to prove to everyone that sharing your creativity and authenticity is a vital part in creating a more joyful world.” To see more of her work or reach out for custom inquiries, visit valsullivan.com or follow her on Instagram @itsvalsullivan.
