For Dr. Emily E. Sachs, being an orthodontist is about much more than just fixing teeth–it’s about transforming lives, one smile at a time. A valued member of the South Shore Orthodontics team, she has a natural gift for connecting with young people who come in for treatment and enjoys seeing them grow into confident young adults.

“I pride myself on being able to help kids feel welcome and excited about their treatment,” says Dr. Sachs. “Many patients who come in are nervous to get braces, so to hear them say, ‘That wasn’t bad at all!’ is very rewarding.”

Dr. Sachs holds a doctoral degree in dental medicine from the University of Connecticut and a Masters of Science in Dentistry and Certificate of Orthodontics from Indiana University. Raised in New England, she enjoys working in the South Shore community. “Our office is like a huge family,” says Dr. Sachs. “We love what we do, and it makes me look forward to going to work in the morning.”

The most gratifying aspect of her job, however, is witnessing the reactions of patients when they complete their treatments. “It’s amazing to see a patient look in the mirror for the first time after they get their braces off,” says Dr. Sachs. “They cannot stop checking out their new smiles!”
