A new line of sustainable drinkware is making its debut on the South Shore.

For Duxbury native Patrick McCluskey, inspiration struck in the quiet rhythm of his morning coffee ritual. After too many lukewarm and off-tasting sips, he was determined to find a better drinkware solution.
“I started using double-wall steel tumblers, but the taste of the metal and plastic always bothered me,” says McCluskey. “I could never seem to get rid of the stale coffee flavor absorbed by the plastic. That’s when I started thinking about double-wall glass as a better alternative.” With a background in engineering and material science, McCluskey set out to design a beverage holder that would provide a superior drinking experience.
He went on to establish VITRI, a company committed to sustainable design that is both functional and beautiful. McCluskey spent years researching, testing, and refining designs for innovative double-wall borosilicate glassware that keeps beverages hot or cold while resisting condensation and staying cool to the touch. The brand’s mission is also guided by a deep awareness of how everyday plastics affect both health and the environment. “If you care about what you put into your body, then you should care about what you’re drinking from,” says McCluskey. “Microplastics and synthetic chemicals leach into beverages that contact plastics. Glass is totally inert, so all you taste is your drink.”
VITRI’s products have already received recognition. In 2022, the VITRI Tumbler won the Sustainability Award at the World Tea Expo and was named Best New Product in Coffee Accessories at the Specialty Coffee Expo. In 2025, the VITRI 12 oz Glass and Straw made its official debut at RISD Craft at the Rhode Island School of Design. These stylish glasses offer a minimalist, elevated drinking experience that’s as eco-conscious as it is elegant. This holiday season, VITRI Glass and Straw sets will be available locally at Four Corners Supply Co. in Marshfield, a retailer known for its thoughtfully curated selection of sustainable products. For McCluskey, seeing VITRI on local shelves is an exciting milestone. With new designs in development and retail partnerships growing, he looks forward to helping customers elevate their beverage experience—one perfect sip at a time.
