Photographer Maryellen Jones has captured countless images of local families, engaged couples, and high school seniors throughout her career. A Hingham resident for the past 32 years, she also has a passion for fine art landscape photography and finds inspiration while conducting portrait sessions for clients.

“When I’m at a location, I’ll notice the light catching something and an idea for a picture will just click in my head,” says Jones, who has become known for her dynamic photos depicting the natural beauty of her hometown.

Each landscape photo encapsulates a moment in time and the essence of the place it was shot. Her collection includes images that amplify the verdant colors of World’s End and Turkey Hill and the soft glow of Hingham Harbor at dawn. One of her most popular photographs, “Sunrise Sails,” was taken just a stone’s throw from Hingham Yacht Club, and reveals the serenity of a group of sailboats in the early morning. “My favorite time to take photos is around sunrise,” says Jones. “Everything is quiet and peaceful and untouched.”

Jones often has her work custom framed for clients at Hingham Furniture and Design and she loves when buyers tell her how much they enjoy having her landscape photography in their home. “I have a personal connection to Hingham,” says Jones.  “I feel lucky to live somewhere with such a palette of beautiful places.”
