Raising a Glass to Mocktails

Is your New Year’s resolution to improve your overall health and wellness? Taking a break from alcohol consumption can be a great first step, often leading to better sleep, more energy and weight loss. We’ve gathered a few examples of creatively crafted mocktails available at local restaurants that are perfect for spicing up your dry January.

Lucca South Shore

There are several elevated non-alcoholic drinks on the menu at Lucca South Shore. Bar manager Kate Ryan recommends the Elegant Lady, a martini-style mocktail containing Seedlip Grove 42 (non-alcoholic spirit), rosemary, lemon and cranberry. Alternatively, there’s the Chai Again Tomorrow, made with local apple cider, lime, vanilla-chai simple syrup and ginger beer and served in a mule mug, and the Cinnamon Wage, featuring a blend of non-alcoholic Seedlip Spice 94, cinnamon, pomegranate, lime and ginger ale served in a tall Collins glass.

Lenny’s Hideaway

The owners of Lenny’s Hideaway in Cohasset take their non-alcoholic drink options very seriously. They have a dedicated zero-proof section of their drink menu, offering eight craft mocktails, such as the Hibiscus Gin Gimlet or Friesta (a take on a Siesta). A handful of their signature cocktails can be made with no or low alcohol and all of Lenny’s Margaritas can be made full, half, or zero proof with Free Spirits Company’s The Spirit of Tequila (in addition to being vegan and gluten free, this company infuses its spirits with nutrients like B vitamins and natural aminos).

Vine Bar

And just like that, there was the ultimate mocktail for a girls’ night out. Scituate’s Vine Bar puts a twist on the iconic Cosmo with its Mixed Berry CosNOpolitan. The drink contains Seedlip Grove 42 non-alcoholic spirit, house-made mixed berry syrup, cranberry and lime juice, and a squeeze of orange and is shaken and served up just like the original. Or, if you’re in the mood for something sparkling, try the Seedlip Spritz, which contains alcohol-free Töst Rosé.

Madre Osteria & Bar

The mixologists at Madre Osteria & Bar in Milton offer an exciting variety of alcohol-free beverages on their bar menu. One of their winter favorites is The Macintosh, a cozy concoction of Spiritless Kentucky 74 non-alcoholic whiskey, maple syrup, lemon juice and sparkling cider. They’ve also become well known for their Nongroni, a mocktail containing non-alcoholic gin, Gifford Aperitif and blood orange juice. There’s also a tasty Fig Margarita made with Cleanco non-alcoholic tequila, fig juice, lime juice and maple syrup.
